The Railway Museum, in the basement of the Águilas Station passenger building, contains objects, photos and models. It is a very interesting museum to visit.
The monument to the railway, in Isaac Peral Square, is an old steam locomotive built in Glasgow that was in service from 1890 to 1967. It weighs 82 tonnes and could reach a speed of 85 km/h.
Infraestructure:
Bridge over the Culebras riverbed: metal crossing (42 m) supported by three ashlar pillars; railway track integrated in the trails.
El Hornillo jetty has a loading dock, the train station and the loading hoppers. The loading dock is 170 m long and 12 m wide and has three tracks; two on the sides for unloading to the ships with dumpers and a central line for manoeuvring. The mixed platform is supported by metal columns raised on a factory jetty. It cannot be accessed at this time because the restoration work hasn't been completed yet.
Embarcadero Station is also pending restoration.
For the construction of the loading hoppers, the mountain was excavated and three tunnels and two hoppers were made from stone. The ore was stored in them while waiting for cargo ships. The train could unload directly on the ship through tunnels one and two, whose galleries were open at both ends. Otherwise, the ore was stored in the two elevated hoppers on the tunnels' strong vaults. When the ship arrived, the ore fell through hoppers on wagons to load the ship.
