CONDITIONED GREENWAY


LOCATION Circular route around the Cerco Industrial (Industrial Area) of Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo, using some of the disused railway lines inside the area. It is in the town centre of Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo (Cordoba), starting and finishing at the Almacén Central (Central Warehouse) next to the bus station. It links up with the La Maquinilla Greenway, whose final kilometre also runs through this town. Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo CÓRDOBA Length: 2 Km Users: Type of surface: Compacted gravel and concrete. Natural setting: Valle del Alto Guadiato, near the ZEPA (Special Birdlife Protection Area) of the same name, and the Sierra de Albarrana Natural Park.
Cultural heritage: The entire Cerco Industrial (Industrial Area) of Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo has had BIC (Asset of Cultural Interest) status since 2017 in the industrial landscape category, and is the first site in the province of Cordobain this category. The most outstanding features are the coke oven smoke stacks, the lead foundry and desilvering plant, the Santa Rosa mine, and the refractory material plant.
