Jara Greenway

Jara Greenway
NOTICE (10/2021): "Due to the state of conservation in which it is and the serious safety problems that derive from this circumstance (poor condition of the pavement, lack of lighting in the tunnels and deficit in the collection of waste) the TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF THE JARA GREENWAY is reported. Any changes of it will be notified in due courseAs long as this situation continues it is not allowed to circulate through it, being of total responsibility of those who do not respect this warning any accident or incident that may occur".

In particular, special emphasis is placed on the fact that it is not allowed to access or approach the enclosures of the stations in a state of abandonment, the so-called Tunnel Nº 9 closed (the next to the Nava-Fuentes station) by landslides due to the rains. It is also warned of the interruption of the route in Aldeanueva de Barbarroya because of the detachment of rocky materials from a trench 2 km from the station of that municipality, after passing the bridge of the Salto del Moro".

Sometimes a railway is destined to fail. This is the case of the railway designed to link Talavera de la Reina with the rural district of Las Vegas Altas del Guadiana in Extremadura. The difficulty of the route, in which the mountainous nature of the terrain required a huge engineering effort, caused the project to be shelved before its completion.

Today the La Jara Greenway runs between the Montes de Toledo hills and the Villuercas massif in the region of Extremadura.
